In the Costa del Sol, is the region of the Axarqua , conformed by a mosaic of towns where you'll be able to visit multitude of places as well as to enjoy its gastronomy and traditions.
Salares , with little more than 200 inhabitants, is one of the calmest and typical towns of the region. Salares is in the skirt of the Natural Park Sierra Tejeda-Almijara , important natural reserve where animals like the wild goat, the fox, the eagle or jabal inhabit.
It is an ideal place to practice photography, hiking, to make a route with on an 4WD vehicle or simply, to breath pure air...The track of the Arab communities has been left patent in the architecture. The assembly formed by the Church (that before was mosque), and the Alminar was declared National Historical Monument in 1.979.
The town is a labyrinth of narrow and staggered streets that transfers us to the past. By most of them it is impossible to drive with vehicles.
Agriculture is the basic pillar of the economy. Due to the steepness of the land, the mules continue being used for the workings of the field, mainly for the plow of lands and the transport of the fruits. The most important crops are the grapevine, the olive tree and the almond tree.
But Salares is not only a place where "to isolate yourself ". From there you'll be able to visit, in addition to the city of Malaga , great part of the province, from Nerja , Frigiliana or Cmpeta to Torremolinos , Mijas , Marbella , Antequera...
You can also make one day-trips to places like Granada , where of course you can't miss the world-known Alhambra-palace.
Also you will be able to enjoy beaches, distant only 30 kilometers, and to taste typical fried fish in one of the many bars existing in Torre del Mar.
The journey from Malaga Airport to Salares by car takes about 70 minutes.
In Salares is "Casa Alminar", a house of typical Andalusian style over 200 years old that has been recently restored. The restoration of the house has been done in order to preserve the structure to the maximum.
The house is distributed in dining-room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The bedroom has a double bed. In the dining-room there is a sofa-bed. The capacity is of 3 (adults), or of 4 (2 adults + 2 children).
Most of the furnitures have been refurnished and placed in their original locations. This permits the visitor to enjoy the house as it was in the olden days. Casa Angeles has been created for the enjoyment of country life and reproduces it with the greatest possible fidelity. This is not a hotel, nor does it pretend to be. However, a flare of luxury does exist here, with complementary touches that we are sure you will appreciate. The copper pans which were used for cooking have been returned to their place above the kitchen fire place. The pitchers seem ready to be taken down to the river for water.With its wooden beams and reeds in the ceiling, its thick walls and its earth floor, the house gives you a feeling of having stepped back in time.
Kitchen: fridge, cooker, small oven, toaster, coffee machine, juicer, washing machine, iron, ironing board.
Bathroom: 1 bathroom (shower).
Bedroom: 1 double (+ 1 cot).
Living-dining room: Fireplace, radio set with CD player.
Suitability: children welcome, pets (please ask), wheel-chair inaccessible, smoking permitted, bed linen/cot linen provided, towels provided.
Outside: The house has no garden but instead has a little sun terrace just at the entrance of the property.
Further details: Water at the house is of a very high quality and is fine for drinking. Nearby there is a local shop for all essentials and a bar. Your car can be parked at the end of the street (50 metres).
Have no doubts, "Casa Alminar" is the ideal place for escaping for a while and forgetting noise, bustle and rush. Here you will be able to spend some time in absolute tranquility and enjoy communing with nature in the truest sense. Come and visit us. You will not regret it!.
